We arrived on a surprisingly quiet Sunday after a show. The outside, at least in winter, makes you wonder if it's even open. But once inside, we had a nice, quiet table to the side to accommodate hearing impaired. And the food was terrific and worth a long-ish wait. Since we got there an hour before closing, we imagined some kitchen staff may have been sent home. Pricy meal but we'll definitely be back.

So this was my first time back in a long time, my wife and I arrived right at the 5:00pm opening and took a seat at the bar. The place had gone through some changes, it seemed more open and was very warm and inviting. So, we grab a seat, we're quickly greeted by Alyssia who makes us each a wonderful Old Fashioned. (No upcharge here for a Luxardo cherry as some other places in Dayton have done...) So we order our food a few minutes later, probably around 5:15 or so. (this is key to the review) I get the Short Rib, my wife, a Filet with a side of 5th Street Bread. We enjoy our drinks, some good conversation and our bread arrives. You can say what you want about bread, but I could live on bread alone and if this was all I had to eat, well, I'd be set for life. So we continue to discuss life and solve the worlds problems as time continues to tick away. 5:40, 5:55, 6:10... Now I know Alyssia did everything she could to make sure our meals were there but I think they finally appeared at about 6:30. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen but it wasn't clicking. Anyway, the meals arrive and everything was really good. I won't say it's worth the wait only because when I go out to eat, I do expect the meal to show up at least within 35 or 40 minutes of ordering. If not sooner. I mean, this is your business, there must be a process. The fact that they left Alyssia to be the bearer of bad news and didn't even attempt to offer some compensation for the wait, (like maybe some more bread?) just kind of set me off in the wrong direction. Overall, this place is good and I'm sure that the wait for the meal isn't always this bad, (is it?), so for now you get a GOOD. To be great, you have to elevate the performance just a bit and when things are not going as planned, let your customers know that you are aware of the issue and offer them something for their wait.

Ambiance was jazzy and modern and clean. Service was fast and meets expectations. We got the foccacia, which was 10/10 (just wished they gave more bread!) We also go the chorizo a la vodka which was 9/10 We lastly got the cheeseburger which was 7/10, good ingredients but have had better tasting burgers. Everything tasted fresh and was locally sourced. We would come back again!

Not for brunch! The French toast was dry. When mentioned to the waitress, she said a coworker said the same thing, but did not offer a discount or removing the cost of it. The crabcake was good and the brussels sprouts are the bomb. The ambience is fabulous

We had a great meal here! My steak was cooked to perfection and was incredibly tender, I also loved that they had different options for sauce that you don't normally see for a steak. All of our meals were really good and our server was absolutely amazing.

My wife walked in and were intrigued by the eclectic and trendy atmosphere. There was a memorial going on outside regarding the 2019 shooting. That said, my wife and I truly enjoyed our visit to the corner kitchen as it was Sunday they only offered a brunch menu. We sat at the bar, Robbie was our bartender and server doing an excellent job at both! Thank you, Robbie! We started off with two different types of old fashions, a regular and a coffee infused. Must say those beverages were absolute delicious! For our main meals, I decided to go for their steak and eggs and my wife, steak and frits. Our steaks were perfectly cooked. Need only slight seasoning. Truly delicious. We decided on the hummingbird cake for dessert, the cake was extremely delicious!

Ambiance: this place is located on a cute old street with other local shops. I was lucky enough to find street parking. They had signs that said they validated parking tickets as well. Inside is very nice and cozy. It's a good place for special occasions or catching up with friends. Food: My server recommended the ribeye, seafood bucatini, or the short rib. I ordered the pierogi potstickers appetizer, which was my favorite! They were nice and crispy on the outside and cheesy on the inside. The crème fraiche added a subtle cream flavor. The short rib was very tender. The red wine sauce complimented the mashed potatoes and meat. Service: service was fairly quick and staff were friendly. I came before the dinner rush so not jammed packed.

There wasn't anything inherently wrong with our meal at Corner Kitchen but it was just mediocre. Perhaps part of the reason is that we went early to try out the Happy Hour they were promoting and we were the only people in the restaurant. The decor looked more drab and like a diner than I expected. I assumed it would be more like the other hip, upscale restaurants in the Oregon District. We started with cocktails, an espresso martini and an old fashioned, that were very good...my husband commented that it was one of the best old fashions he's had in a while. We then ordered 3 small plates from their Happy Hour menu to share. The shrimp and grits were tasty but only 2 shrimp, even for a small plate, seems skimpy. The charcuterie was some grilled bread, a very small amount of cheddar cheese and sliced salami, some jam, and "pickled vegetables" which were grated carrots and two slices of jalapeno in a condiment cup. The poutine was just odd. Instead of a beef gravy and cheese curds on top of fries, it was deconstructed: a bowl of gray mushroom gravy with a small pile of fries and fried cheese curds. Overall, it was a decent meal and the server was good, but I wouldn't choose it above any of the other restaurants in the area.

This was my first time back since the restaurant reopened. We stopped in very early to give it a try. The service was good and I had frankly one of the best old fashions I have had in a long time. It's tough to describe the ambiance because we were silly early and had the place pretty much to ourselves. We ordered three small plates. The shrimp and grits were tasty but the shrimp was over cooked. The poutine was a very different take; the cheese curds were tempura coated deep fried and very tasty. Fries were good and the gravy was served on the side. The charcuterie board was a disappointment-extremely basic. Overall I'm giving it a B, if I had spent $150 on a full meal, I'm sorry but I would be disappointed. Three small plates and three cocktails came out to around $80. I will give them another try but they are a long way off from the old owners in quality.
